Become a Woman of Wisdom and Wonder
By Sandra Miniere, M.Ed., Personal Life Coach

A woman enters her wisdom years as she approaches the age of 50--a time in her life to emphasize self-care and self-discovery. The choices she makes at 45 have the power to create a future that will contribute to her “living fully” into her 80’s.

If she makes herself a priority, she may become aware of what she wants at the deepest level of her being. This awareness may motivate her to make changes and take risks. The possibilities to live with more authenticity and fulfillment are waiting. With discernment and the wisdom gained from life experiences, she will explore these possibilities and make choices.
Life becomes full when her choices bring deeper meaning to her existence. With courage, compassion, a curious spirit and an open mind, a woman of wonder and wisdom continues to reinvent herself.

Here are a few strategies to bring out the wise woman in you:

Create solitude:
Find the time to be alone. In the silence you connect with the authentic self—the core truths that motivate and inspire you. Here you reflect on where you have been, where you are and where you want to go. You may get clear about what you want to have more of and less of in your future. This is the place to ask provocative questions: What part of me has been waiting to express itself? What makes me feel good?

Identify what fuels you:

When you are pursuing what is important to you, you come alive. Your health and wellbeing are connected to this positive attitude and energy. Discover the activities and relationships that energize you. While doing what you are obliged to do, you also need to listen to your heart and body. They tell you when you are living your truth. Make a list of things, places, activities and relationships that uplift you. What do you need to do to have more of them in your life?

Explore possibilities:

Gather enough relevant information before you make choices and commitments about your future. Be open and curious. Be willing to generate diverse perspectives. If you limit the possibilities you explore, you may be limiting your results. To step out of the box, you must first think out of the box. You may love teaching, but do not want to go back to school to become a teacher. Find something you can teach that doesn’t require a college degree, for example, Sunday school, first aid, sewing classes, training seminars.

Take Action:

Once you know what you want, turn it into a vision. Your vision can be the ideal situation you want in your life 5 or 10 years from now. The action steps you take today begin and maintain the process for turning your intention into a reality. If adventure and travel is in your future, you may want to start saving travel money, develop friendships with like-minded people, learn about tour groups and more.

A woman of wisdom and wonder knows how to make life an exciting adventure. She makes wise decisions that create the future she wants. You are on your way to this empowered lifestyle if you make personal growth a way of life. Whether 45 years old or 80, there is life to be lived. Live it with awareness, purpose, passion and action. The joy and wonder of who you are and how you live your life will never cease.
